ITSB Campus Development


Inauguration of the construction commencement of Building A - Bandung Institute of Technology and Science (ITSB) campus, which took place on May 20, 2010 is one of the ITSB Foundations efforts to develop qualified private universities, reputable and can become a proud citizen of Bekasi. The inauguration, which is coincided with the National Awakening Day, is to show the commitment of the ITSB founder, Institute of Technology Bandung (ITB), Bandung District Government, and Sinarmas to develop higher education in an effort to increase human resource capacity of Indonesia. A Building is one block from the four blocks of buildings proposed for Campus ITSB. The building is a four-storey building with 4000 m2 floor area, allocated for 15 class rooms, basic chemical laboratory, basic physics laboratory, computer laboratory, language laboratory, conference rooms, central administration, cafeteria and other common facilities. The construction will be completed towards the end of 2010 and ready for use in the academic year 2011-2012.

After the inauguration ceremony, scholarships award ceremony was performed. Students of year 2009 were awarded with scholarship. The student was elected on the basis of academic achievement and and/or required financial support.

In accordance with the vision of ITSB, Eco-Industry oriented University, courses those given in ITSB will be developed in cooperation with industry. Collaboration with industry model is set up by signing Memorandum of Understanding between ITSB with PT. Rotaryana, to develop Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineering Department in ITSB. A similar MoU was signed on May 17, 2010 between ITSB with PT. Ilthabi Mandiri Teknik, and PT. Gita Mandiri Teknik.

Collaboration with refrigeration industries were set up based on the consideration that the refrigeration industry is the second largest industry after the automotive industry which employs many workers and its growth in Indonesia and Asia will increase in coming years. Besides the current refrigeration industry is undergoing a technology transformation due to Montreal Protocol concerning the elimination of refrigerants that damage the ozone layer and cause global warming. Refrigeration industry has interest in the availability of human resources who understand the new refrigeration technology. The human resource with those expertises is the outcome of the process of education in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineering Department of ITSB.
